Referral setup & display

The referral program allows your customers to invite their friends to your store and earn rewards when those friends make a purchase.

This guide will walk you through setting up the referral program step by step, even if you’ve never used referral marketing before.

Steps to set up

Step 1: Open Referral Setup

Open the Go to Jaka Affiliate Marketing app > click Referrals in the left menu


Step 2: Turn on Referral Widgets

Jaka provides three referral display options. You can enable one or all of them.

1. Referral Widget (For Advocates)

  • Shown to customers browsing your store

  • Allows customers to enter their email and get a referral link

  • Best for collecting new advocates

Toggle ON and click Customize to edit text and design.


2. Post-Purchase Block (For Advocates)

  • Shown on the Thank You Page or Order Status Page

  • Encourages customers to refer friends after completing a purchase

Recommended: ✅ Enable this for higher referral participation.


3. Referral Popup (For Friends)

  • Shown to friends who visit the store using a referral link

  • Displays the discount they will receive

This helps improve conversion by clearly showing the reward.


Step 3: Set Rewards for Advocates (Referrers)

Advocates are customers who share referral links.

You can reward them with:

  • Percentage discount, or

  • Fixed amount discount

Optional settings:

  • Minimum order amount

  • Reward expiration (number of days)

Example:

  • Advocate gets 30% off after a friend’s first purchase

  • Reward expires in 60 days


Step 4: Set Rewards for Referred Friends

Referred friends are new customers who click a referral link.

You can configure:

  • Discount type (percentage or fixed amount)

  • Discount value

  • Optional minimum order amount

  • Optional expiration date

Example:

  • Friend gets 10% off their first order


Step 5: Customize Referral Content

For each widget or popup, you can customize:

  • Title and description text

  • Button labels

  • Colors and layout

This ensures the referral experience matches your brand style.


How Referral Popup Works on Your Store

Jaka referral program involves two types of users:

1- Advocate (Existing Customer)

  • A customer who shares a referral link

  • Earns a reward when friends make a purchase

2- Friend (Referred Visitor)

  • A new visitor who clicks a referral link

  • Receives a discount for their first purchase

Different widgets are shown to each role.


Referral Widget for Advocates (On Your Store)

What Advocates Sees:

The Referral Widget is displayed to visitors browsing your store.

It allows customers to:

  • Enter their email

  • Join the referral program

  • Get a personal referral link to share

This widget is designed to collect advocates and encourage customers to invite friends.

When It Appears:

  • Visible to regular visitors and customers

  • Does not require a referral link


Referral Popup for Friends (Referred Visitors)

What the Friend Sees:

The Referral Popup is shown to visitors who arrive at your store using a referral link.

The popup:

  • Displays the reward the friend will receive

  • Shows the discount code or offer

  • Encourages the friend to complete a purchase

Example message:

“You’ve been invited! Get 10% off your first order.”


When It Appears

  • Only appears when a referral link is detected

  • Shows automatically when the friend lands on your store

  • Does not appear for normal visitors


How the Referral Flow Works

  1. An advocate gets a referral link from the referral widget

  2. The advocate shares the link with a friend

  3. The friend clicks the referral link

  4. The referral popup appears on your store

  5. The friend completes a purchase using the reward

  6. The referral is tracked automatically

  7. The advocate receives a reward

All tracking and attribution are handled by Jaka.


What Happens at Checkout?

  • The referral discount is applied based on your settings

  • The order is recorded as a referral order

  • The advocate’s reward is generated after a successful purchase
