# Affiliate Marketing Basics

Affiliate marketing is a performance-based marketing model where businesses partner with third parties (called affiliates) to promote their products or services. Affiliates earn a **commission** when their promotional efforts lead to a successful action, most commonly a sale.

Instead of paying upfront for advertising, businesses reward affiliates only when measurable results are achieved. This makes affiliate marketing a cost-efficient and scalable growth strategy for online stores.

Affiliate marketing is widely used by ecommerce brands and digital services to expand their reach through content creators, influencers, bloggers, and partners.

***

### ℹ️ What Is Affiliate Marketing?

In affiliate marketing, a business creates an affiliate program and allows affiliates to promote its products using unique tracking links.

When a customer clicks an affiliate link and completes a purchase, the affiliate responsible for the referral receives a commission based on predefined rules.

Affiliate marketing creates a win–win relationship:

* Businesses gain more sales and exposure
* Affiliates earn revenue by promoting products they trust
* Customers discover products through trusted recommendations

Because commissions are paid only after conversions occur, affiliate marketing minimizes risk compared to traditional advertising.

***

### ✅ How Affiliate Marketing Works

Affiliate marketing typically follows a structured process:

#### 1. Program creation

The business defines:

* Commission rates (percentage or fixed amount)
* Eligible products or collections
* Tracking duration (cookie lifetime)
* Approval rules for affiliates

***

#### 2. Affiliate promotion

Affiliates receive unique referral links and promote products through:

* Blogs and review websites
* Social media platforms
* Email newsletters
* Video and content platforms

Each link contains tracking information that identifies the affiliate.

***

#### 3. Tracking and attribution

When a customer clicks an affiliate link:

* A tracking cookie or identifier is stored
* The system attributes future purchases to the affiliate within the tracking period

This ensures commissions are assigned accurately, even if the purchase is not immediate.

***

#### 4. Conversion and commission

Once a customer completes a purchase:

* The sale is recorded
* A commission is calculated based on the program’s rules
* The commission remains pending until approved

***

#### 5. Payout

After approval:

* Affiliates are paid according to the payout schedule
* Payments can be issued manually or automatically, depending on the program setup

***

### 🎯 Why Businesses Use Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is popular because it:

* Reduces upfront marketing costs
* Scales through partner networks
* Expands brand reach organically
* Aligns marketing spend with real performance

When managed correctly, affiliate marketing becomes a long-term channel that drives consistent and high-quality traffic.

# Essential Affiliate Marketing terms

Here are the most important terms you should know:

This guide explains the most important terms you’ll encounter when using affiliate marketing. Understanding these terms will help you set up, manage, and grow your affiliate program with confidence.

### 🧩 Affiliate Marketing

**Affiliate marketing** is a performance-based marketing model where businesses reward partners for promoting their products or services.

Affiliates earn commissions only when their promotion leads to a successful result, such as a sale, signup, or subscription. This makes affiliate marketing a low-risk and results-driven growth strategy.

***

### 🧩 Affiliate

An **affiliate** is an individual or organization that promotes a merchant’s products or services in exchange for a commission.

Affiliates are often:

* Content creators or influencers
* Bloggers or website owners
* Media buyers
* Marketing partners

Affiliates may also be referred to as partners, publishers, or external marketers.

***

### 🧩 Affiliate Program

An **affiliate program** is the system a merchant creates to manage affiliates, commissions, and tracking.

In an affiliate program, the merchant defines:

* Commission rates
* Eligible products
* Tracking rules
* Approval and payout conditions

Affiliates join the program and promote products based on these rules.

***

### 🧩 Affiliate Link

An **affiliate link** is a unique tracking link generated automatically by the app when an affiliate joins a campaign.

Affiliates use this link to promote the store.\
Any order placed through the link is tracked and attributed to the affiliate.

***

### 🧩 Affiliate Order (Referral Order)

An **affiliate order** (also called a referral order) is an order placed by a customer who clicked an affiliate link before purchasing.

These orders are used to:

* Calculate commissions
* Track affiliate performance
* Approve payouts

***

### 🧩 Commission

A **commission** is the reward paid to an affiliate for generating a successful result.

Commissions can be:

* A percentage of the sale
* A fixed amount per order
* Based on specific rules or conditions

Affiliate marketing commissions are always **performance-based**.

***

### 🧩 Affiliate Network (Multi-level Marketing)

An **affiliate network** (or multi-level marketing) allows affiliates to invite other affiliates into the program.

In this model:

* An affiliate can earn commissions from their own sales
* They may also earn additional commissions when affiliates they invited generate sales

This helps expand the affiliate program organically.

***

### 🧩 Creatives

**Creatives** are brand assets provided to affiliates to help them promote products effectively.

Common creatives include:

* Banners and images
* Text links
* Promotional content

Providing creatives ensures consistent branding and makes promotion easier for affiliates.

***

### 🧩 Landing Page

A **landing page** is a webpage where affiliates send traffic.

Landing pages are designed to:

* Present products clearly
* Encourage conversions
* Improve affiliate performance

Affiliate links typically direct customers to a landing page or product page.

# Pros and cons of affiliate marketing

Affiliate marketing can be a powerful growth channel, but like any marketing strategy, it has both advantages and disadvantages.

This guide helps you understand when affiliate marketing works well and what to watch out for.

***

### ✅ Pros of Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing offers several benefits for online businesses.

#### Pay Only for Results

You only pay commissions when affiliates generate real sales or actions.\
There are no upfront advertising costs.

***

#### Scalable Growth

You can work with multiple affiliates at the same time, allowing your marketing reach to grow without increasing internal workload.

***

#### Low Marketing Risk

Since commissions are performance-based, affiliate marketing has lower risk compared to traditional advertising.

***

#### Reach New Audiences

Affiliates promote your products to their own audiences, helping you reach new customers you might not access otherwise.

***

#### Easy to Track Performance

Affiliate marketing platforms track clicks, sales, and commissions automatically, making performance easy to measure.

***

### ⚠️ Cons of Affiliate Marketing

While affiliate marketing has many benefits, there are also some challenges to consider.

#### Takes Time to See Results

Affiliate programs often need time to recruit affiliates and build momentum before generating consistent sales.

***

#### Requires Affiliate Management

You may need to review applications, approve affiliates, and monitor activity to maintain quality.

***

#### Less Control Over Promotion

Affiliates promote your products in their own way, which may not always match your brand voice if not properly guided.

***

#### Commission Costs

While commissions are paid only on results, they still reduce profit margins and should be planned carefully.

***

### 📌 Is Affiliate Marketing Right for You?

Affiliate marketing works best if you:

* Want performance-based growth
* Are comfortable working with partners
* Have clear commission rules and guidelines

With the right setup and management, affiliate marketing can be a sustainable and cost-effective growth channel.

# How an Affiliate Campaign Works

This guide explains how an affiliate campaign works from start to finish in Jaka — from creating a campaign to paying affiliates.

### ℹ️ What Is an Affiliate Campaign?

An **affiliate campaign** defines:

* Which products affiliates can promote
* How commissions are calculated
* How sales are tracked and rewarded

***

### 🔄 Flow

Here’s how everything works together:

1. You create an affiliate campaign
2. Affiliates join your program
3. Affiliates share referral links
4. Customers make purchases
5. Sales are tracked automatically
6. Commissions are calculated
7. You approve and pay affiliates

***

### [⚙️ Step 1: Create a Campaign (Merchant)](https://docs.jaka.app/shopify/campaign-setup/create-a-campaign)

You start by creating an affiliate campaign in Jaka.

In this step, you define:

* Campaign name
* Eligible products or collections
* Commission rules (percentage or fixed amount)

This determines what affiliates promote and how they earn.

<figure><img src="/files/vb2tmOcZgrfFAoiYdpFC" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Note**: Activate app embed on the theme&#x20;

To make the app function work on the site, you need to activate the app in theme editor. [Learn more](https://docs.jaka.app/shopify/jaka-affiliate-marketing-app/activate-app-embed-on-the-theme)

<figure><img src="/files/SXTxlSt8hVIQvNZFX92N" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### [👥 Step 2: Affiliates Join Your Program](https://docs.jaka.app/shopify/affiliate-managment/create-affiliate/affiliate-registration)

Affiliates can join your program by:

* Applying through your affiliate signup page
* Being created manually by you

Once approved, affiliates get access to the **Affiliate Portal**.

<figure><img src="/files/PD66UTDwUeFhE4Ce7H9e" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### [🔗 Step 3: Affiliates Share Referral Links](https://docs.jaka.app/shopify/affiliate-managment/manage-affiliates/edit-affiliate-referral-link)

Inside the Affiliate Portal, affiliates:

* Get unique referral links
* Choose products to promote
* Share links on social media, blogs, or ads

Each link is unique and used for tracking.

<figure><img src="/files/XAznqBjiLbo6Wg0F4mjR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### 🛒 Step 4: Customers Make a Purchase

When a customer:

* Clicks an affiliate link
* Visits your store
* Completes a purchase

The system records this as an affiliate order.

<figure><img src="/files/cMTQQBORJgxyKJAoZXu9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### 📊 Step 5: Tracking & Commission Calculation

Jaka automatically:

* Tracks the referral using cookies
* Attributes the sale to the correct affiliate
* Calculates commission based on campaign rules

<figure><img src="/files/Ci4ZFhltoazXBaU07ILy" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### 💰 Step 6: Approve & Pay Affiliates

After sales are recorded:

* You review affiliate sales
* Approve commissions
* Pay affiliates based on your payout process

You stay in full control of approvals and payments.

<figure><img src="/files/lQBTVMXo0FOXlS6bW2Z0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### 🧩 Where Affiliates Manage Their Activity

Affiliates use the **Affiliate Portal** to:

* Track their sales and commissions
* View payout status
* Access creatives and referral links

This reduces support work for merchants.

***

### 🚀 Next Steps

* Create your first affiliate campaign
* Invite or approve affiliates
* Customize the affiliate portal
* Set up payouts

# Add Affiliate landing page

### ℹ️ What Is the Affiliate Landing Page?

The affiliate landing page is a **separate page hosted by Jaka**, not inside your Shopify theme.

Affiliates use this page to:

* Sign up for your affiliate program
* Log in to the affiliate portal
* Access referral links and performance data

Note:&#x20;

The affiliate landing page cannot be embedded inside your Shopify store pages.

* It does not live under your Shopify domain
* You cannot edit it using Shopify theme editor

👉 Jaka provides the affiliate landing page on a separate domain.

***

### ⚙️ Step to manage

After creating a campaign, you can add the affiliate landing to the site to let visitors access the campaign and register/log in as affiliates.&#x20;

#### **Step 1 : Get the affiliate landing page**&#x20;

# Custom domain

By default, Jaka hosts your affiliate landing page on a Jaka domain.\
If you want a more professional and branded experience, you can use **your own custom domain** instead.

***

### ℹ️ What Is a Custom Domain?

A **custom domain** is a web address that uses your own brand, for example:

* `affiliates.yourstore.com`
* `partners.yourbrand.com`

Instead of using a Jaka-provided URL, affiliates will access your program through **your branded domain**.

#### Why Use a Custom Domain?

Using a custom domain helps you:

* Build trust with affiliates
* Keep branding consistent
* Look more professional
* Make the affiliate page easier to recognize

This step is optional but recommended for growing brands.

#### Note:&#x20;

Before setting up a custom domain:

* The affiliate landing page is still hosted by Jaka
* You are only pointing your domain to Jaka
* Basic DNS access is needed. If you’re not familiar with DNS, your domain provider can help.

***

### ⚙️ Steps to manage

#### Step 1: Choose a Subdomain

Decide which subdomain you want to use, such as:

* `affiliates.yourstore.com`
* `partners.yourstore.com`

You cannot use the main domain (for example, `yourstore.com`).\
A subdomain is required.

***

#### ⚙️ Step 2: Add Domain in Jaka

1. Open **Jaka Affiliate Marketing app > Settings > Branding**
2. In **Store domain** field, select **Custom Domain**
3. Enter your chosen subdomain
4. Click **Save**

<figure><img src="/files/rfaALndAUjnVogxscA8W" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

#### ⚙️ Step 3: Add a CNAME Record in Your Domain Settings

To activate your custom affiliate domain, you need to add a **CNAME record** in your domain provider’s DNS settings.

This step tells your domain to point to Jaka’s system.

* **What Is a CNAME Record? (Simple Explanation)**

A **CNAME record** connects one domain name to another.

In this case:

* Your custom subdomain (for example: `affiliate.yourstore.com`)
* Points to Jaka’s system (`jaka.app`)

This allows your affiliate landing page to load correctly on your custom domain.

Note:&#x20;

* Every domain provider looks different (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.)
* The names of fields may vary slightly

***

* **CNAME Record Values**&#x20;

When adding a new DNS record, use the following values:

* **Record type**: `CNAME`
* **Host / Name**: `affiliate`\
  (This creates `affiliate.yourdomain.com`)
* **Points to / Target / Value**: `jaka.app`
* **TTL**: `600` (or leave default)

👉 Do **not** include `http://` or `https://`

<figure><img src="/files/o9nj8yBYoPzxKgWD33ym" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

* **Where to Add This Record**

1. Log in to your domain provider
2. Open DNS Settings or Domain Management
3. Click **Add Record** or **Add DNS Record**
4. Choose **CNAME**
5. Fill in the values above
6. Save the record

Your screen may look different, and that’s okay.

***

✅ Example (What a Correct Setup Looks Like)

Once added, your DNS records may look like this:

| Type  | Host      | Points to | TTL |
| ----- | --------- | --------- | --- |
| CNAME | affiliate | jaka.app  | 600 |

This means:

* `affiliate.yourdomain.com` → Jaka Affiliate Landing Page

***

* **Wait for DNS to Take Effect**

After saving:

* DNS updates may work in a few minutes
* In some cases, it may take up to 24 hours

This delay is normal and outside Jaka’s control.

***

* **How to Check If the CNAME Is Working**

You can verify your setup using a free tool:

👉 <https://mxtoolbox.com/CNAMELookup.aspx>

How to check:

1. Enter your full subdomain\
   Example: `affiliate.yourdomain.com`
2. Click **CNAME Lookup**
3. Check the result

✅ If the result shows **`jaka.app`**, your setup is correct\
❌ If not found, wait a bit and try again later

<figure><img src="/files/AX9UuejcFouREEpnu7jR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

After that, please contact the support team Jaka app (at[ hi@tipo.io](mailto:hi@tipo.io)) or open chatbox in the app to let the technical team help you set up further and activate the custom domain.

***

#### **Still need support?**

If you still need help, please feel free to contact us at <hi@tipo.io>. We’ll be happy to assist you further.

# Create an Affiliate Campaign

To start promoting your affiliate strategy, you need to have a campaign created in the app backend. Our system creates a default program for you with the commission type of Percent of Sales = 10%. You can edit that program or add a new program then set it as Default.&#x20;

Note: there must be at least one campaign and it must be chosen to be the default program.&#x20;

## ⚙️ General Steps to Create a Campaign

1. Open the app -> click **Campaign** -> Click **Add campaign** button&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/Uxolbu9Y2DysYBWmpO07" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

2. Set Campaign **Name** & **Status**

* **Campaign name**\
  Used for internal reference (example: “Default Affiliate Program”)
* **Status**
  * **Draft** – Campaign is not active
  * **Publish** – Affiliates can join and earn commission

💡 You can change the status anytime.

<figure><img src="/files/2VauyzzdbaIZa3tfQCaG" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

3. Set the **Default Commission**

Choose how affiliates earn commission:

* **Percent of sale** (e.g. 10%)
* **Fixed amount** (e.g. $5 per order)

Set the **cookie duration**, which defines how long referrals are tracked.

<figure><img src="/files/RYJEGw0pps6NXMlWZNMG" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

4. Enable the **Discount** functions and set discount amount (optional)&#x20;

Enable the discount function to offer a percentage or fixed amount off for affiliate-driven orders. You can apply it to specific collections and set usage limits.

**Example:**

* **Discount type:** Percentage
* **Amount:** 10%
* **Applies to:** "Winter Collection"
* **Limit:** One use per customer

This means affiliates can offer 10% off on selected products, and each customer can use it once. Let me know if you want help setting it up!

<figure><img src="/files/LyUWgLgGN0asR2NNRYOQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

5. Click **Save** to create the campaign
6. Get the Affiliate registration link

Each campaign has its own **affiliate registration link**. Share this link to:

* Invite affiliates
* Add to your website
* Send via email or social media

Affiliates who sign up through this link join the campaign automatically.

Also, after creating a campaign, you can add the affiliate landing to the site to let visitors access the campaign and register/log in as affiliates. [Learn more](https://docs.jaka.app/shopify/getting-started-with-jaka/add-affiliate-landing-page#step-to-manage)

***

## **🧩** Explain Options & Rules (Commission Settings)

### 💰 Dedault commission Type & Amount

Jaka offers three commission types. Choose the one that best fits how you want to reward affiliates.

<figure><img src="/files/Cd5ls0Kz9yjCwmVKa1q5" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Percent of Sale

The affiliate earns a percentage of the order value.

* Commission is calculated based on the product total
* Shipping, tax, and extra fees are not included (unless you enable them)

**Example:**

* Order value: $100
* Commission rate: 10%
* Affiliate commission: **$10**

***

#### Flat Amount (Per Order)

The affiliate earns a fixed amount for each order, no matter the order size.

* Commission is paid once per order
* Shipping and tax are not included (unless you enable them)

**Example:**

* Flat commission: $5
* Order value: $50 or $200
* Affiliate commission: **$5**

***

#### Flat Rate per Item

The affiliate earns a fixed amount for each product item sold.

* Commission is calculated per unit
* Shipping and tax are not included

**Example:**

* Flat rate per item: $3
* Quantity purchased: 4 items
* Affiliate commission: **$12**

***

### 🍪 Cookie Duration

Jaka Affiliate Marketing provides you with the option to set the cookie duration. Cookie duration defines how long a referral is valid.

On the **Campaign** panel -> in **Commission Rules** section -> enter the number of days in **Cookie Duration** to set the expiration duration of the affiliate tracking cookie.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/rhmaQR2XKBFKmWH9qtBV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Example: `30 days`

* If a customer buys within 30 days after clicking an affiliate link, the affiliate earns commission
* After the cookie expires, no commission is recorded

### 💰 How Commission Is Calculated

You can control what is included in commission calculations:

* ✅ Include discount
* ✅ Include shipping
* ✅ Include taxes

#### Example:

* Product price: $100
* Discount: $10
* Commission rate: 15%

If **discount is included**:\
Commission = 15% × $90 = **$13.50**

The calculation preview panel shows this clearly.

&#x20;Note: it will be the discount total which the order has contains the discount of store, affiliate discount if applicable, ect...

<figure><img src="/files/Yle1N56MwH9NnN1DSzfL" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### ✅ Auto vs Manual Affiliate Approval

* **Auto-approved affiliate**\
  Affiliates can start promoting immediately after signup
* **Manual approval**\
  You review and approve affiliates before they can promote

<figure><img src="/files/8W0p5YL1aBo8Sqm5nLHc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### ✅ **Auto Approved Order**

After the orders are created from affiliate link, the sales are created in the app. Each order created thanks to any affiliate will be stored the order information in **Sales** tab.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/DLYSe2GWBk1T8ssxGRFA" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* If the **Auto Approved Order** is enabled, the sale is creates and commission for affiliate is created immediately in the app.&#x20;
* If the **Auto Approved Order** is not enabled, you need to manually check each sale  in the Sales tab and accept them.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/3z0Be2ZvSWrnPOgpEdCg" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### ♾️ **Lifetime commission**

When **Lifetime Commission** is enabled, an affiliate earns commission **every time a referred customer makes a purchase in the future** — not just the first order.

<figure><img src="/files/bBtvoqLcuEfucDAkyNP1" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Once a customer is referred:

* The customer is permanently linked to the affiliate
* Future orders are still counted even if no affiliate link is used
* Tracking is based on the customer’s email, not cookies

#### 📌 How It Works

1. An affiliate shares their referral link
2. A customer makes their **first purchase** using that link
3. The customer is now **assigned to the affiliate**
4. Every future order from the same customer earns commission for that affiliate

#### Example

* Lifetime commission rate: **30%**
* Affiliate A refers a customer named **Laura**

**Month 1**

* Laura orders $50 using the affiliate link
* Affiliate A earns **$15**

**Month 2**

* Laura orders $50 (no affiliate link)
* Affiliate A still earns **$15**

**Month 3**

* Laura orders $50 again
* Affiliate A earns **$15**

✅ The affiliate continues earning commission **for every future order** from Laura.

***

### 💰 Advanced commissions

Advanced commission rule allows you to override the default commission with Order total amount, discount code and customer name. [Learn more](https://docs.jaka.app/shopify/campaign-setup/advanced-commissions)

<figure><img src="/files/DmDrnlZk7pCY6YUxkv8C" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### 💰 Product-Specific Commissions

Product specific commissions feature allows you configure extra commission rules for specific products or collections. Other products still follow the default commission rate of the program.

[Learn more](https://docs.tipo.io/overview/general-steps-to-connect-stores#a-tutorial-video)

***

### 🚫 Disable self referral

When **Disable Self-Referral** is enabled, affiliates cannot earn commission on their own purchases.

If an affiliate uses their own affiliate link and places an order:

* The order will not be tracked
* No commission will be generated
* The affiliate’s email is used to detect self-referrals

<figure><img src="/files/Br4PuwHsBTkt6Wa6RcEp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Example

* Affiliate A registers with the email: `affiliate@email.com`
* Affiliate A clicks their own affiliate link
* Affiliate A places an order for **$100**

❌ No commission is earned\
❌ The order is ignored by Jaka Affiliate Marketing

# Default commission Rules

### ℹ️ Commission Meanings

Commission is the reward paid to affiliates when they successfully refer customers to your store.

The commission amount depends on:

* The commission type you choose
* The order value
* Which order components are included (discount, shipping, tax)

***

Commission is calculated from the order total, based on your selected settings:

* **Product value** (always included)
* **Discount** (optional)
* **Shipping fee** (optional)
* **Taxes** (optional)

In Jaka app, this is the main commission rule used for all affiliate orders, unless you add advanced or product-specific rules.

<figure><img src="/files/eyZfFWXiMTorGKkrpJLw" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You need to configure three things:

* **Commission type**
* **Commission amount**
* **Cookie duration**

### ℹ️ Commission Types

Jaka supports **three commission types**. Choose the one that fits your business model.

#### Percent of Sale

The affiliate earns a percentage of the order value.

* Commission is calculated based on the product total
* Shipping, tax, and extra fees are excluded by default

<figure><img src="/files/eYPvPMKuKGOZugXumsxp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Example**

* Order value: $100
* Commission rate: 15%
* Affiliate earns: **$15**

✅ Best for most stores\
✅ Scales automatically with order value

***

#### Flat Amount (Per Order)

The affiliate earns a fixed amount for each order, no matter the order size.

<figure><img src="/files/UBMKP36RhfBsU5yNE4lF" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Example**

* Flat commission: $5
* Order value: $50 or $200
* Affiliate earns: **$5**

✅ Simple and predictable\
✅ Good for fixed-margin products

***

#### Flat Rate per Item

The affiliate earns a fixed amount for each product item sold.

<figure><img src="/files/IxztNcqPZQwoQBEPtSOU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Example**

* Flat rate per item: $3
* Quantity purchased: 4 items
* Affiliate earns: **$12**

✅ Ideal for bulk or multi-quantity purchases

***

### ⏱️ Cookie Duration

Cookie duration defines how long an affiliate referral is valid.

If a customer clicks an affiliate link, the affiliate will earn commission for purchases made within this time period.

**Example**

* Cookie duration: 30 days
* Customer purchases within 30 days → commission is earned
* Purchases after 30 days → no commission (unless lifetime commission is enabled)

***

### ➕ Include Discount, Shipping, and Taxes

These options control what is included in commission calculation.

* **Include discount** → commission is calculated after discount
* **Include shipping** → shipping cost is included
* **Include taxes** → tax amount is included

You can enable or disable each option based on your preference.

***

### 📑 Commission Calculation Preview

The calculation preview shows:

* Order breakdown
* What is included
* Final commission amount

This helps you verify the commission logic before saving the campaign.

# Product-Specific Commissions

**Product-Specific Commissions** allow you to pay different commission rates for specific products, instead of using one flat commission for your entire campaign.\
This gives you more control over margins, promotions, and affiliate incentives.

***

### ℹ️ What Are Product-Specific Commissions?

**Product-Specific Commissions** let you override the **default campaign commission** for selected products or groups of products.

Instead of paying the same commission for everything, you can:

* Offer higher commissions on high-priority products
* Offer lower commissions on low-margin products
* Run special promotions for selected items only

> 📌 Important:\
> If a product matches a product-specific rule, that rule will be used instead of the campaign’s default commission.

***

### ✅ How Product-Specific Commissions Work

Jaka supports two ways to define product-specific commissions:

1. **Automated Product** – rule-based (price, SKU, vendor)
2. **Manual Product** – select products individually (higher priority)

<figure><img src="/files/5O0uOsSXbGTWZRtgKuWK" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Priority Order:

When an order is tracked, Jaka applies commission rules in this order:

1️⃣ **Manual Product** (highest priority)\
2️⃣ **Automated Product**\
3️⃣ **Default Campaign Commission** (fallback)

> ⚠️ **Warning:**\
> If a product is set in **Manual Product**, it will always override **Automated** **Product** rules.

***

### ⚙️ General Steps to Set Up Product-Specific Commissions

Follow these steps to get started:

1. Open **Jaka Affiliate Marketing → Campaigns**
2. Select an existing campaign (or create a new one)
3. Scroll to **Product specific commissions**
4. Choose **Automated Product**, **Manual Product**, or both
5. Configure commission values. Example:&#x20;

   * Under **Automated product**, click **Add conditions >** Choose a condition

   Example: `Product price is greater than $100`

   * Set the commission type and amount. Example: `15%`
6. Click **Save**

<figure><img src="/files/ceo9X9EGrN1t5fnzI5nz" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### 🧩 Automated Product (Rule-Based Commissions)

Automated Product lets you apply commissions automatically based on product rules.

#### When to Use Automated Product

* Large catalogs
* Products with similar pricing
* Vendor-based or SKU-based rules

#### Available Conditions

You can create rules using:

* **Product price**
* **Product SKU**
* **Product vendor**

You can choose whether:

* **All conditions must match**
* **Any condition can match**

***

#### Example: Automated Product Rule

> **Scenario:**\
> You want to pay **10% commission** for all products priced at **$100 or more**.

**Rule setup:**

* Condition: Product price ≥ $100
* Commission: 10%

🟢 Result:\
Any product priced at $100 or above automatically earns 10% commission.

<figure><img src="/files/hUlTVJOr1nkooA6eCeIo" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/IPII45W6NvVsahb8BIkb" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### 🧩 Manual Product (Higher Priority)

Manual Product lets you **select specific products manually** and assign a custom commission to each one.

#### When to Use Manual Product

* Featured or flagship products
* Special promotions
* Products that need exact control

#### &#x20;How to Set It Up

1. Click **Product** under M**anual Product**
2. Select one or more products from your store
3. Choose commission type (percentage or flat)
4. Enter the commission amount
5. Click **Save**

> 📌 **Important:**\
> Manual Product rules always override Automated Product rules.

***

<figure><img src="/files/QY2qMFpOCo3ndfwlL0vf" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/vn9TqTuPLhDiyh9cpc7n" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/EjnEv7AdlSKZfBssteqt" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Example: Manual Product Override

> **Scenario:**
>
> * Default commission: 10%
> * Automated rule: 12% for Vendor A
> * Manual Product: Product X = 20%

🟢 Result:

* Product X → **20% commission**
* Other Vendor A products → **12%**
* All other products → **10%**

# Advanced Commissions

**Advanced Commissions** let you create special commission rules that apply only when certain conditions are met.\
This is useful when you want different commissions for specific situations (products, order values, affiliate tiers, etc.).

### ✅ How Advanced Commissions Work

By default, your campaign uses a **Default Commission** rule.

When you add **Advanced Commissions**, Jaka will:

1. Check whether the affiliate order matches any advanced rule
2. If it matches → apply the **advanced** commission
3. If not → use the **default** campaign commission

> 📌 **Tip**\
> Use Advanced Commissions for special cases (e.g., “higher commission for high-value orders”), while keeping your default commission simple.

<figure><img src="/files/J7uwvnKm9qpoJFLHcIJU" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Priority Order

When calculating commission, Jaka applies rules in this order:

1. **Manual Product commission** (highest priority)
2. **Automated Product commission**
3. **Advanced Commissions**
4. **Default Campaign Commission** (fallback)

> ⚠️ **Warning**\
> If a product already has a Manual/Automated product commission, Advanced Commissions won’t override it.

***

### ⚙️ General Steps to Set Up Advanced Commissions

1. Open the app > open **Campaigns** > open the campaign you want to edit
2. Scroll to **Advanced Commissions**
3. Click **Add rule**
4. Set the **conditions** (when this rule should apply)
5. Set the **commission** (how much to pay)
6. Click **Save**

<figure><img src="/files/gYIu2N9LdxjArzwNOC4Q" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

> It is possible to add one condition or multiple conditions to apply the commissions and set the commission rate

# Auto tier Commission

### ℹ️ What Is Auto Tier Commission?

**Auto Tier Commission** automatically increases an affiliate’s commission when they reach specific performance milestones.

Instead of manually moving affiliates to a new campaign, Jaka does this for you, based on rules you define (for example, total commission earned).

This is perfect for:

* Rewarding top-performing affiliates
* Encouraging affiliates to sell more
* Running long-term incentive programs

***

### ✅ How Auto Tier Commission Works

**Auto Tier** works like a ladder:

1. An affiliate starts at a base tier (default campaign)
2. When they meet a condition (e.g. total commission ≥ $1,000)
3. They are automatically upgraded to a higher tier (moved to a new campaign with higher commission rate)
4. Higher tier = higher commission rate

The system keeps checking affiliate performance and moves them up the tiers automatically.

***

### ⚙️ General Steps to Set Up Auto Tier Commission

1. Open the app > click **Settings** > **Auto tier**&#x20;
2. Enable **Auto Tier:** toggle **Active** to turn on Auto Tier Commission.
3. Create Tier 1 (Root Tier)

Click **Add tier** > select **Campaign 1** (commission 5%). This becomes **Tier 1 (Root tier)**

4. Create Tier 2 (Higher Commission)

Click **Add tier** again > select **Campaign 2 -**&#x43;ommission: **10%.** This becomes **Tier 2**

&#x20;4\. Link the tier 2 to tier 1  and set the condition&#x20;

* Connect **Tier 2** to **Tier 1**
* Set the condition: `Total commission ≥ $1,000`

This rule means affiliates must earn at least **$1,000 in total commission** to move up.

\=> **Affiliate A** drives more sales and earn more commissions (total is 1500$), crossing into **Tier 2 (10% commission)** he will be automatically moved from campaign 1 to campaign 2

5. Set the reset tier rule&#x20;

* If you set **Day of the month = 1**\
  → Tiers reset on the first day of the month
* If you set **Day of the month = 30**\
  → Tiers reset on the 30th day

6. Save the app settings&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/h7lerNXzmjNhW9OMjGni" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

&#x20;6\. Click **Save** &#x20;

***

### 🛠️ Reset tier

The **Reset Tier** option controls when affiliates are moved back to the starting tier after a certain time period. This helps you run monthly, quarterly, or custom performance-based tier programs.

When enabled, affiliates must re-earn their commission level again in the next period.

Configure:

* **Day of the month**
* **Month**

<figure><img src="/files/qb89EiXGwxpa36xq5MZN" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Day of the Month

This setting defines which day the tier reset happens.

How it works:

* If you set **Day of the month = 1**\
  → Tiers reset on the **first day of the month**
* If you set **Day of the month = 30**\
  → Tiers reset on the **30th day**
* If the selected day **does not exist** (e.g. 31 in February)\
  → The system resets on the **last day of that month**

> 💡 **Tip**\
> Use Day = **1** if you want a clean, monthly performance cycle.

***

#### Month (Reset Frequency)

This setting defines how often the reset happens, in months.

How it works:

* **Month = 1** → Reset **every month**
* **Month = 2** → Reset **every 2 months**
* **Month = 3** → Reset **quarterly**
* **Month = 12** → Reset **yearly**

***

#### Example: Monthly Tier Reset

Setup:

* Day of the month: **1**
* Month: **1**

What happens: On the 1st day of every month, all affiliates:

* Are moved back to the **Root / Tier 1 campaign**
* Must earn commissions again to unlock higher tiers

#### Example: Performance-Based Auto Tier With Reset

* Tier 1 → Campaign A (5%)
* Tier 2 → Campaign B (10%) when total commission ≥ $1,000
* Tier 3 → Campaign C (20%) when total commission ≥ $3,000

Affiliate A

* Earns $1,500 in January → moves to **Tier 2**
* Earns $3,200 → moves to **Tier 3**

✅ If Reset Tier is ON

* On the reset date, Affiliate A goes back to **Tier 1**
* Must re-qualify again next cycle

❌ If Reset Tier is OFF

* Affiliate A stays at Tier 3 permanently

# Commission priority

If there are multiple conditions you set to apply the commissions, you should know what setting is the highest prioritized.

Commission Priority defines which commission rule is applied when multiple rules could match the same order.

Jaka determines commission priority based on two layers, evaluated in order:

1. **Tracking method priority**
2. **Commission type priority**

Understanding this helps you avoid conflicts and predict exactly which commission is paid.

***

### 🧩 1. Tracking Method Priority&#x20;

When an order is placed, Jaka first checks how the order was tracked.\
The tracking method determines which affiliate and commission rule are considered first.

Priority order (top → lowest)

1. **Affiliate Coupon**
2. **Affiliate Link**

For example:

The order will be tracked by one of the method only. In case customers access products via an affiliate link of affiliate 1, but they add the discount code of affiliate 2 manually at checkout, the commission will be created for affiliate 2.

<figure><img src="/files/jnqMTFvYxtF1eZOtFZIp" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### 🧩 2. Commission types <a href="#id-2.-between-commission-types" id="id-2.-between-commission-types"></a>

In case many commission types are applied to the same referral at the same time, **only ONE** will be tracked in the app.&#x20;

After the tracking method is determined, Jaka selects which commission rule applies.

This happens when multiple commission rules exist. Commission Type Priority (Highest First):&#x20;

* **Product-specific commission** 🥇
* **Auto-tier commission**
* **Campaign default commission**

Prioritized 1: **Product specific commissions**: **Manually** products ->  **Automated** products&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/7UuymzHbEOS3eojT6t5P" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Prioritized 2: **Advanced commissions**: first condition in the list&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/ajUgcJNfdGu3KbT3i0iR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Prioritized 3: Default commission of the campaign&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/rySxUA9WK5eIRDT3hWPQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### Example: Commission Type Priority

Campaign default commission: **10%**\
Product-specific commission for Product A: **20%**

A customer buys Product A via an affiliate link.

➡️ Result\
Affiliate earns 20%, because product-specific commission overrides campaign default.

# Campaign Discounts

Discount will be applied to orders when customers place orders via an affiliate.

### 🧩 What is a Campaign Discount?

Campaign **Discounts** let you offer a discount to customers who purchase through an affiliate’s promotion.&#x20;

A Campaign Discount is a discount that is linked to an affiliate campaign. When you turn it on:

* Jaka creates a **discount code for each affiliate** in that campaign.
* The affiliate can share:
  * **Affiliate link** (tracking + attribution)
  * **Discount code** (optional for the affiliate to share)
* Customers get the discount when they check out (based on your campaign discount configuration).

⇒ Best for increasing conversion because customers feel they are getting a deal.

<figure><img src="/files/BFFptTWbhADpWoxBNFQv" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### ⚙️ How to Set Up Campaign Discounts

&#x20;1\. Open the app ->  click **Campaigns** > open a campaign or create a new one&#x20;

&#x20;3\. In the **Discount** section, toggle **Enable**&#x20;

4. Select **Discount type** and enter discount value you want

* Select your discount format:
* **Percentage** (e.g., 10% off)
* **Fixed amount** (e.g., RM5 off)
* Then enter the **Amount**.

Example:&#x20;

* Percentage: **10% off**
* Fixed amount: **RM5 off**

5. Choose what the discount applies to.&#x20;

   Use **Apply discount to** to select scope (example: **All products**).
6. Add requirements and limits for the discount (optional)
7. Click **Save** to apply changes.

<figure><img src="/files/BFFptTWbhADpWoxBNFQv" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### ⚙️ Where to Find the Discount Code

#### In Jaka (Affiliate view)

Open an affiliate profile and look at the **Discount code** section.

* You’ll see the affiliate’s **unique code**
* You’ll also see the **referral link** (the affiliate’s tracking link)

<figure><img src="/files/KlTRaf9hA0MGbrqhiASk" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### In Shopify Admin (Discounts)

Jaka also creates the discount in Shopify, so you may see it inside:\
**Shopify Admin → Discounts**

<figure><img src="/files/ofz6FrkInQNk1fkNDbfF" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### ✅ How Campaign Discounts Work

Here’s the real flow from start to finish:

1. You enable **Discount** in a campaign
2. Jaka generates a unique discount code per affiliate
3. The affiliate shares their **referral link** (and optionally their **discount code**)
4. A customer clicks the affiliate link → visits your store
5. When the customer checks out and the order is created:
   * the order is tracked as an **affiliate order**
   * the customer receives the **discount** (based on your settings)
6. The affiliate earns **commission**, and the sale appears in the app

# Affiliate Signup Link

### 🧩 What Is the Affiliate Signup Link?

After you create a campaign, Jaka automatically generates an **Affiliate Signup Link**. This link allows people to **register as affiliates for a specific campaign**.

Each campaign will have a specific affiliate registration form to share to affiliates.&#x20;

When someone opens this link:

* They see a signup form
* They register as an affiliate
* They are automatically linked to the selected campaign
* Their affiliate account is created in Jaka

<figure><img src="/files/D2mtwMswBVah537GNBnI" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

### ⚙️ Where to Find the Affiliate Signup Link

&#x20;1\. Open the app > click **Campaigns** > open a particular campaign

&#x20;2\. Find the Register campaign link on the right

<figure><img src="/files/i470gJwE5tnmzILkv4NZ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

You can share the link anywhere, for example:

* Email
* WhatsApp / Telegram
* Social media
* Influencer outreach
* Your website or landing page

Anyone who signs up using this link will be registered only for that campaign.

**Note**: in case you have multiple campaigns, the affiliate registration form showing on Home would be the form of your default campaign.

# Multiple-Level Marketing (MLM)

Multiple-Level Marketing (MLM) allows affiliates to earn **extra commissions** when they invite other affiliates into your program.

In short:

* One affiliate makes a sale
* That affiliate earns the main commission
* The affiliates **who invited them** earn **a percentage of that commission**

***

### ⚙️ Steps to set up

1. To activate the multi level marketing in the app, you need to create a **campaign** first.&#x20;
2. In the app > click **Settings** > **Multi-level marketing** > select number of level you want to set up
3. Enter the commission amount of each level &#x20;
4. Click **Save**

<figure><img src="/files/xVT3QGIY0mRYzLHZbcCW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### ✅ How MLM Works

MLM commissions are not calculated from the order value directly.\
They are calculated as a percentage of the original affiliate’s commission.

Think of it like this:

> **Customer order → Original affiliate earns commission → Upline affiliates earn a share of that commission**

Each “level” is one step higher in the referral chain.

#### Key Roles in MLM

* **Original affiliate**\
  The affiliate who directly refers the customer and generates the sale.
* **Level 1 affiliate**\
  The person who invited the original affiliate.
* **Level 2 affiliate**\
  The person who invited the Level 1 affiliate.
* **Level 3 affiliate**\
  The person who invited the Level 2 affiliate.

Each level earns a smaller percentage, based on your MLM settings.

<figure><img src="/files/xEoAkl4XYlsgSPZvU0gy" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

#### 📊 Example: 4-Level MLM Commission Breakdown

Let’s walk through a real example step by step.

**Affiliate structure**

You have 4 affiliates connected like this:

1. **Anna** – Original affiliate
   * Directly registered to the campaign
   * Refers the customer
2. **John** – Sub-affiliate (Level 1)
   * Invited Anna
3. **Mike** – Sub-affiliate (Level 2)
   * Invited John
4. **Jim** – Sub-affiliate (Level 3)
   * Invited Mike

<figure><img src="/files/mSopdlngRhlBoHiIbN9G" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The Anna shares affiliate promote link with customers > customers purchase products via that link&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/KYhAJkwdwtFmQKUGDDIY" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Order details**

* Order total: **$100**
* Campaign commission for original affiliate: **10%**

➡️ Anna earns:\
`$100 × 10% = $10`&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/MB5qZzC0TazmIYfyFjeV" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

#### MLM Commission Distribution

Now MLM commissions are calculated **from Anna’s $10 commission**, not from the $100 order.

Level 1 – John

* Commission rate: 10% of Anna’s commission
* Calculation:\
  `$10 × 10% = $1`

➡️ John earns $1

***

Level 2 – Mike

* Commission rate: 5% of Anna’s commission
* Calculation:\
  `$10 × 5% = $0.50`

➡️ Mike earns $0.50

***

Level 3 – Jim

* Commission rate: 2% of Anna’s commission
* Calculation:\
  `$10 × 2% = $0.20`

➡️ Jim earns $0.20

Result:&#x20;

| Affiliate | Level    | Earns From        | Commission |
| --------- | -------- | ----------------- | ---------- |
| Anna      | Original | Order value       | $10.00     |
| John      | Level 1  | Anna’s commission | $1.00      |
| Mike      | Level 2  | Anna’s commission | $0.50      |
| Jim       | Level 3  | Anna’s commission | $0.20      |

# How affiliates invite other affiliates

### ✅ What This Option Does

This feature allows existing affiliates to invite new affiliates to join your program.

When an affiliate invites someone:

* The invited person becomes a **sub-affiliate**
* The inviter becomes their **parent affiliate**
* If Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) is enabled, the parent affiliate can earn **override commissions** from their sub-affiliate’s sales

This helps you grow your affiliate program organically, without manual recruiting.

***

#### 🔄 How It Works

1. An affiliate joins your campaign
2. The affiliate gets a **network invite link**
3. They share the link with friends or partners
4. New affiliates sign up using that link
5. A parent–child relationship is created automatically

> The system tracks the relationship for **network visibility and MLM commissions**.

***

### ⚙️ Where Affiliates Find Their Invite Link

Affiliates can find their invite link in their **Affiliate Dashboard**.

<figure><img src="/files/ThKii4ruebQY1DqYFXGl" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

**Path:**

```
Affiliate Dashboard → Networks → Invite to join your network
```

They will see a link like:

```
https://your-store.jaka.app/?ref=AFFILIATE_CODE
```

This link is unique to each affiliate.

***

### 🧩 Step-by-Step: How Affiliates Invite Others

#### 1️⃣ Copy the Invite Link

The affiliate clicks the **copy icon** next to their invite link.

#### 2️⃣ Share the Link

They can share it via:

* Email
* Social media
* Messaging apps
* Website or blog

#### 3️⃣ New Affiliate Registers

When someone clicks the link and signs up:

* They are linked to the inviter automatically
* No manual approval is needed (if auto-approve is enabled)

***

### 📌 Example

> Anna is an affiliate in Campaign A\
> She shares her invite link with John\
> John signs up using Anna’s link

Result:

* John becomes Anna’s **sub-affiliate**
* Anna becomes John’s **parent affiliate**
* The relationship appears in the affiliate network

***

#### 💡 Tip

If **Auto-Approved Affiliate** is enabled in the campaign, new affiliates can start promoting immediately after signing up.

***

#### ⚠️ Note

Inviting affiliates does **not automatically pay commissions** unless:

* [Multi-Level Marketing (MLM)](https://docs.jaka.app/shopify/~/revisions/etUYfWdaLDrspaqYU0an/campaign-setup/multiple-level-marketing-mlm) is enabled
* Commission levels are configured

# View Affiliate Network

### ℹ️ What Is the Affiliate Network?

The **Affiliate** **Network** shows how affiliates are connected to each other in your program.\
It helps you understand who invited whom, and how your multi-level marketing (MLM) structure is built.

The affiliate network is a **visual hierarchy** that shows:

* The **recruiter (parent affiliate)**
* The **recruited affiliates (child affiliates)**
* The **relationship between affiliates** created through invite links

This network is used to calculate **multi-level commissions** automatically.

<figure><img src="/files/rQMz61Jy5tP2SbV4ZxzD" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

#### 🔄 How the Affiliate Network Is Created

The affiliate network is created **automatically** when affiliates join using invite links.

#### How it works:

1. An affiliate shares their **network invite link**
2. A new affiliate signs up using that link
3. The new affiliate is linked as a **child** of the inviter
4. The system builds the network structure automatically

***

### ⚙️ Where to View the Affiliate Network

#### From the Admin (Merchant) side:

1. Open **Jaka Affiliate Marketing app** > go to **Affiliates**
2. Select an affiliate
3. Scroll to the **Networks** section

You will see:

* **Recruiter** (parent affiliate)
* **Recruited distributors** (child affiliates)
* A visual tree of the affiliate network

<figure><img src="/files/5qXHjNikTWes4wQVRk7L" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

#### From Affiliate Dashboard (Affiliate) side:

1. Affiliate log in Affiliate **Dashboard**&#x20;
2. Scroll to the **Networks** section

<figure><img src="/files/zztV1R5HHsGdGkmAsmG9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Network Structure Explained&#x20;

Let’s look at a simple example:

* **Lee Hi** (top affiliate) - Invited **Laura**
* Laura may invite others later

The network will look like this:

```
Lee Hi (You)
 └── Laura
```

* Lee Hi is the **recruiter**
* Laura is the **recruited affiliate**
* This relationship is used to calculate MLM commissions

***

### 🔧 Assign or Change Recruiter (Admin Only)

By default, networks are created automatically.\
However, store admins can manually manage recruiters.

#### Admin actions available:

* **Assign recruiter**
* **Change recruiter**
* **Disconnect recruiter**

<figure><img src="/files/OyLnTRAV1bIbwacqSHtG" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

> ⚠️ **Please note:**

* The affiliate network is read-only for affiliates. Affiliates cannot edit or change their network.
* Networks are created automatically via invite links
* Only admins can change recruiter relationships in the app

# Bonus Commission

Bonus commissions reward affiliates when they reach a specific goal.\
This helps motivate affiliates and increase sales.

***

### ℹ️ What Is a Bonus Commission?

A bonus commission is an **extra reward** you give affiliates when they reach a commission target.

For example:

* An affiliate earns a bonus after reaching a certain total commission
* The bonus is paid in addition to normal commissions

***

### ✅ How Bonus Commissions Work

1. You set a target commission amount
2. An affiliate reaches the target
3. Jaka automatically grants the bonus
4. The bonus appears in the affiliate’s payout

No manual calculation is needed.

***

### ⚙️ How to Create a Bonus Commission

1. Go to **Jaka Affiliate Marketing** app > click **Bonuses**
2. Click **Create bonus**

<figure><img src="/files/H0uXKSpIGbyYibrpsrfh" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

3. Fill in the required fields:

* **Bonus title**
* **Apply to campaigns**
* **Condition** (minimum commission required)
* **Bonus amount**

<figure><img src="/files/T7lXRKknzKGOSTi9qWFQ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

4. Choose the **period**

* One-time bonus
* (Optional) Include past sales

5. Set a **due date**
6. Click **Save**

#### **Example**

**The amount of commission affiliates earn ≥ 2000 USD**

This means:

* The affiliate must earn at least $2,000 in commission
* Once they reach this amount, the bonus becomes eligible

**Bonus amount: 100 USD**

When the condition is met:

* The affiliate receives an extra $100 bonus
* This bonus is added on top of their normal commission

&#x20;**Apply to campaigns: `Jan 2026`**

**Bonus Period Options**

* **One-time**\
  The bonus is given only once when the affiliate reaches the target.
* **Include past sales**\
  Past commission can count toward the bonus goal.

***

#### Notes

* Bonuses are calculated automatically
* One-time bonuses are paid only once per affiliate
* Bonuses are shown in the affiliate’s payout history
* Bonuses do not replace regular commissions

# Add Affiliates

This section explains the different ways you can add affiliates to your program using Jaka.

Depending on your workflow, you can:

* Let affiliates **register themselves** using a signup link, or
* **Create affiliates manually** as an admin

Both methods allow affiliates to start promoting your store and earning commissions, but each is designed for different use cases.

Choose the method that best fits how you want to manage and grow your affiliate program.

# Affiliate Registration (Signup Link)

Affiliate Registration allows affiliates to **sign up by themselves** using a registration link generated by the Jaka Affiliate Marketing app.\
This is the easiest way to onboard affiliates without manually creating accounts.

***

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

#### You create a campaign

<figure><img src="/files/15VoeEpCcCxMdf8tHN3o" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* Laura clicks the link and signs up
* Laura is added as affiliate of the campaign  **Summer Promo** in the app. &#x20;

# Create Affiliate manually

This method is useful when you already have a partner, influencer, or internal staff member you want to add to your affiliate program.

***

### 👥 Who Should Use This Method?

* You already know the affiliate’s email
* You want to skip the signup form

> You can edit the referral code text

# Page and link Overview

The **Portals** section lets you create and manage affiliate-facing pages that live on a separate domain, independent from your Shopify storefront.

These pages are designed specifically for affiliates—to register, log in, and manage their affiliate activities in one place.

Example portal domain:\
👉 `https://booking-nga.jaka.app/`

### ℹ️ What Is an Affiliate Portal?

An **affiliate portal** is a dedicated website where affiliates can:

* Learn about your affiliate program
* Register to become an affiliate
* Log in to their affiliate dashboard

Unlike your Shopify store, portal pages are built for affiliates, not customers.

<figure><img src="/files/2cBPL5vFTRcIHFMaj09L" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

<figure><img src="/files/bvIpD9MjoGji7PfMmsGZ" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### ℹ️ Pages Available in Portals

The Portals section includes several ready-made pages you can customize:

#### 🏁 Landing Page

A public page that introduces your affiliate program and encourages visitors to join.

#### 📝 Registration Page

Where new affiliates sign up and apply to your program.

#### 🔐 Login Page

Where approved affiliates log in to access their dashboard.

#### 🔑 Forgot Password Page

Helps affiliates request a password reset if they forget their login details.

#### 🔄 Reset Password Page

Allows affiliates to create a new password securely.

#### 📄 Terms & Conditions Page

Displays your affiliate program rules and legal information.

***

### 🔗 Separate Domain for Affiliates

All portal pages are hosted on a dedicated affiliate domain, such as:

```
https://booking-nga.jaka.app/
```

This helps you:

* Keep affiliate traffic separate from customer traffic
* Provide a professional affiliate experience
* Share clean, trusted links with partners

> 💡 You can also connect a [**custom domain**](https://docs.jaka.app/shopify/~/revisions/7eOZXBHVC30BeOz9B1pA/pages-and-links/custom-domain) (for example: `affiliate.yourstore.com`) if needed.

***

### 🎨 Customize the Portal Experience

You can customize portal pages to match your brand, including:

* Text content
* Images and banners
* Buttons and call-to-action text
* Brand colors and logo

This ensures affiliates see a branded and consistent experience when interacting with your program.

<figure><img src="/files/dwAiCm4vT6lS8LxxHoJa" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### 🔁 How Portals Fit Into Your Affiliate Program

1. You manually share the **landing page** or link the page to store menu
2. Affiliates visit your **portal landing page**
3. They register using the **registration page**
4. Approved affiliates log in via the **login page**
5. Affiliates manage links, track sales, and earn commissions

All actions are synced automatically with your Shopify store and campaigns.

The affiliate landing page is a **separate page hosted by Jaka**, not inside your Shopify theme.

Affiliates use this page to:

* Sign up for your affiliate program
* Log in to the affiliate portal
* Access referral links and performance data

Note:&#x20;

The affiliate landing page cannot be embedded inside your Shopify store pages.

* It does not live under your Shopify domain
* You cannot edit it using Shopify theme editor

👉 Jaka provides the affiliate landing page on a separate domain.

* `affiliates.yourstore.com`
* `partners.yourbrand.com`

Instead of using a Jaka-provided URL, affiliates will access your program through **your branded domain**.

#### Why Use a Custom Domain?

Using a custom domain helps you:

* Build trust with affiliates
* Keep branding consistent
* Look more professional
* Make the affiliate page easier to recognize

This step is optional but recommended for growing brands.

#### Note:&#x20;

* `affiliates.yourstore.com`
* `partners.yourstore.com`

You cannot use the main domain (for example, `yourstore.com`).\
A subdomain is required.

***

#### ⚙️ Step 2: Add Domain in Jaka

1. Open **Jaka Affiliate Marketing app > Settings > Branding**
2. In **Store domain** field, select **Custom Domain**
3. Enter your chosen subdomain
4. Click **Save**

<figure><img src="/files/rfaALndAUjnVogxscA8W" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

#### ⚙️ Step 3: Add a CNAME Record in Your Domain Settings

To activate your custom affiliate domain, you need to add a **CNAME record** in your domain provider’s DNS settings.

This step tells your domain to point to Jaka’s system.

* **What Is a CNAME Record? (Simple Explanation)**

A **CNAME record** connects one domain name to another.

In this case:

* Your custom subdomain (for example: `affiliate.yourstore.com`)
* Points to Jaka’s system (`jaka.app`)

This allows your affiliate landing page to load correctly on your custom domain.

Note:&#x20;

* Every domain provider looks different (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.)
* The names of fields may vary slightly

***

* **CNAME Record Values**&#x20;

When adding a new DNS record, use the following values:

* **Record type**: `CNAME`
* **Host / Name**: `affiliate`\
  (This creates `affiliate.yourdomain.com`)
* **Points to / Target / Value**: `jaka.app`
* **TTL**: `600` (or leave default)

👉 Do **not** include `http://` or `https://`

<figure><img src="/files/o9nj8yBYoPzxKgWD33ym" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

* **Where to Add This Record**

1. Log in to your domain provider
2. Open DNS Settings or Domain Management
3. Click **Add Record** or **Add DNS Record**
4. Choose **CNAME**
5. Fill in the values above
6. Save the record

Your screen may look different, and that’s okay.

***

✅ Example (What a Correct Setup Looks Like)

Once added, your DNS records may look like this:

| Type  | Host      | Points to | TTL |
| ----- | --------- | --------- | --- |
| CNAME | affiliate | jaka.app  | 600 |

This means:

* `affiliate.yourdomain.com` → Jaka Affiliate Landing Page

***

* **Wait for DNS to Take Effect**

After saving:

* DNS updates may work in a few minutes
* In some cases, it may take up to 24 hours

This delay is normal and outside Jaka’s control.

***

* **How to Check If the CNAME Is Working**

You can verify your setup using a free tool:

👉 <https://mxtoolbox.com/CNAMELookup.aspx>

How to check:

1. Enter your full subdomain\
   Example: `affiliate.yourdomain.com`
2. Click **CNAME Lookup**
3. Check the result

✅ If the result shows **`jaka.app`**, your setup is correct\
❌ If not found, wait a bit and try again later

<figure><img src="/files/AX9UuejcFouREEpnu7jR" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

After that, please contact the support team Jaka app (at[ hi@tipo.io](mailto:hi@tipo.io)) or open chatbox in the app to let the technical team help you set up further and activate the custom domain.

# Pay affiates outside Jaka app

When you choose to pay affiliates outside of Jaka, the app helps you collect payment details, track payouts, and mark commissions as paid, while the actual money transfer happens in your own payment tool (bank, PayPal, Payoneer, etc.).

Jaka does **not** automatically send money, you stay in full control.

***

### ✅ How This Flow Works&#x20;

1. You set up a custom payment method in the app
2. Affiliates enter their payment details in their dashboard
3. You review payout information in the admin panel
4. You pay affiliates externally (bank, PayPal, etc.)
5. You mark the payout as **paid** in Jaka

This keeps your records accurate without forcing any payment provider.

***

### ⚙️ Step 1: Add a Custom Payment Method (Admin)

Create the payment method you want to use (for example: **Sungold bank account**).

You decide:

* Payment method name (e.g. *Bank Transfer*)
* What information affiliates must provide
  * Email
  * Bank name
  * Account number
  * Phone number, etc.

⇒ These fields become a form affiliates must fill in.

1. Go to the app > click **Settings** > **Payment**&#x20;
2. Click **Add custom payment method**

<figure><img src="/files/Ue3TkzOUIjnP1bQaHR7a" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

3. Add fields to collect payment details from affiliates

<figure><img src="/files/nVw6GSGqMBvC3qQ780F0" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

4. Click **Save**

The payment method will be option of the options affiliate can select to receive commission.&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/mwOLs17tNDEj1DxLnIuW" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### ⚙️ Step 2: Affiliates Enter Their Payment Information

Where to set: **Affiliate dashboard → Settings → Payment**

Affiliates:

* Select the payment method you created
* Fill in their payment details (exactly the fields you defined)
* Save their information

This ensures you always see the correct payout details before paying.

<figure><img src="/files/3zsCnwG6cUlnExBnC0ul" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### ⚙️ Step 3: Review Payout Details in Admin

Where to set: Admin dashboard → **Payouts**

When a payout is created, you can see:

* Affiliate name
* Total commission
* Selected payment method
* All payment details provided by the affiliate

<figure><img src="/files/1bZhueblR3pYQs7msnrM" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

***

### ⚙️ Step 4: Pay the Affiliate Outside Jaka

Use your own payment tool, such as Sungold bank and pay them manually outside the app.&#x20;

{% hint style="info" %}
Jaka does **not** process the payment, it only tracks it.
{% endhint %}

Example:

> You send $100 to the affiliate via your bank to affiliate back account.

***

### ⚙️Step 5: Mark the Payout as Paid

After you’ve completed the payment:

1. Open the payout in Jaka
2. Confirm that the payment was made outside the app

You can insert variables to personalize emails automatically.

# SMTP Setup

By default, emails are sent from our app with sender email address - `no-reply@tipo.io` .

**SMTP** lets you send affiliate notification emails from your own email address instead of using the default provider. &#x20;

This is useful if you want:

* Emails sent from your brand email (e.g. `hi@yourstore.com`)
* Better deliverability
* Full control over email sending

***

### ✅ When Do You Need SMTP?

You should use SMTP if:

* You want emails sent from **your own domain**
* Your store already uses Gmail, Google Workspace, or another email provider
* You don’t want to use the default email service

📌 SMTP is optional. If you don’t configure it, emails can still be sent using the default provider.

***

### ⚙️ General SMTP Setup Steps

1. Go to the app > click Notifications > click on **Merchant** tab
2. In **Provider** section, select **Your own SMTP**
3. Fill in the following fields:

**1️⃣ SMTP Server:** Provided by your email service\
Example: `smtp.gmail.com`

2️⃣ **Port:**  `465`  or `587`

**3️⃣ Encryption:** `SSL` or `TLS`

**4️⃣ Username / Email Address:** The email address you want to send emails from.

Example: `yourstore@gmail.com`

**5️⃣ Password:** Your email password or app password from email provider

📌 For Gmail, you must use an **App Password** (explained below).

**6️⃣ Sender Email (Optional):** The “From” email shown to recipients.

Example: `hi@yourstore.com`

**7️⃣ Sender Name (Optional):** The name shown as the sender.

Example: `Your Store Name`

4. Click **Save**
5. Contact the support team of the app if you need to check the result

  → Check port & encryption match your provider
* ❌ Gmail not working?\
  → Make sure App Password is used
* ✅ Use a branded sender name to increase trust
* ✅ Start with Gmail if you’re new to SMTP

# Create app password for Gmail SMTP

If you want to use Gmail SMTP to send emails, Google may require an **App Password** (instead of your normal Gmail password).

This usually happens when your Google account has **2-Step Verification** turned on.

An **App Password** is a special 16-character password that allows apps (like PowerfulForm) to sign in securely.

***

#### 📝 Step 1: Turn on 2-Step Verification (Required) <a href="#step-1-turn-on-2-step-verification-required" id="step-1-turn-on-2-step-verification-required"></a>

Google only allows App Passwords if **2-Step Verification** is enabled.

1. Sign in to your Google Account.
2. Go to **Security**
3. Find **2-Step Verification**
4. Turn it **ON** and complete the setup.

✅ After this is enabled, you’ll be able to create an App Password.

# Referral overview

### ℹ️ What Is a Referral in Jaka?

The **Referral Program** in Jaka helps your customers promote your store by sharing a referral link or discount code.\
When someone buys through that referral, both the referrer and your store benefit.

A referral happens when:

1. A customer (referrer) shares their referral link or discount code
2. A new customer clicks the link or uses the code
3. The new customer places an order
4. The referrer earns a reward (discount, commission, or benefit you define)

Jaka tracks this entire flow for you — no manual work needed.

***

### 🧩 Key Referral Terms&#x20;

Here are a few important terms you’ll see in the referral feature:

* **Referrer (Advocate)**\
  The person who shares your store and refers new customers.
* **Referral Link**\
  A unique link assigned to the referrer. Orders made through this link are tracked automatically.
* **Referral Discount Code**\
  A code the referrer can share instead of a link. It also tracks referral orders.
* **Referral Reward**\
  What the referrer earns after a successful referral (for example: discount, cashback, or store credit).
* **Referral Conversion**\
  A successful referral order created using a referral link or code.

***

### ✅ How the Referral Program Works

Currently Jaka app provides referral popup and reward customers with discount only.

2. Customer 1 (referrer) click on referral popup > enter their email address > get a referral link right away

<figure><img src="/files/m8ocjtnbXZbQF1jxNgd9" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Customer 1 (referrer) share referral link to their fiend (customer 2) and offer him x % discount > their friends open the referral link to purchase products > the **Popup (Displays for friends)** shows up

<figure><img src="/files/c6QJQ8qqzS9rX0udJ0Ma" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

&#x20;3\. Customer 2 will purchase the  products on your store and use the discount code at checkout. If the order is created, the referrer who shared the discount code will receive a discount too.&#x20;

Email notification will sent with discount code.&#x20;

* set discount for referrer here&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/BgJJKb53dwAnYeovsfGn" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

* email will look like this&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/W84j3JXiuP53PYQesIkj" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

On the **Setting** window pops up, you can edit the coupon of the Referral with a **Percentage** or a **Fixed** **Amount** and other conditions of the coupon below:

* This discount requires a minimum order subtotal: the minimum amount of the order of Referral friend so the Referral will get a coupon as a reward from the Merchant
* The reward will expire in: the valid day's number from the day the reward is sent so that Referral can use it

Also, you also can customize the front-end interface of the Referral contains **button** and **popup** after clicking the button.&#x20;

### 🧩 Popup Text Sections Explained

#### 🏷️ Card (Main Message)

This is the headline and description shown at the top of the popup.

**What you can edit:**

* **Title** – Main message (highlight the reward)
* **Subtitle** – Short explanation of how the referral works

**Best practice:**

* Keep it short and clear
* Mention both rewards (for friends and referrer)
* Use friendly, positive wording

***

#### 🔘 Button Text

This controls the call-to-action button.

**Common uses:**

* Encourage users to get their referral link
* Prompt them to start sharing

**Tips:**

* Use action words (Get, Share, Invite)
* Keep it under 20 characters
* Make it clear what happens next

***

#### ✏️ Input Field Text

This is where users enter their email to get a referral link.

You can customize:

* **Input placeholder** – What the field says before typing
* **Required message** – Shown if the field is empty
* **Invalid message** – Shown if the email format is wrong

**Why this matters:**\
Clear messages reduce confusion and improve sign-ups.

***

### &#x20;⚙️ Using Dynamic Variables

Referral popup text supports **dynamic variables**, which update automatically based on your reward settings.

Common variables:

* `{{discount_of_referral}}` → Reward for the referrer
* `{{discount_of_referral_friends}}` → Reward for friends

Using variables ensures your popup text always matches your actual rewards.

***

# Referral Email Notifications

**Referral Email Notifications** help you automatically communicate with both store admins and referrers (advocates) when important referral events happen.

These emails keep everyone informed and make sure referrers know when to start sharing, how to earn rewards, and when a referral is successful—without any manual work.

In this section, you’ll learn how referral emails work and how to manage:

* Admin emails for tracking referral activity

#### What is Better: Affiliate or Referral Marketing?

Both partnership types have their unique strengths and can be used together or independently, depending on your business goals and target audience. It's all about finding the right balance and implementing the approach that suits your brand's needs and objectives.

**Can I use both affiliate and referral marketing simultaneously?**

Absolutely! In fact, many businesses combine both strategies to maximize their marketing efforts and tap into different target audiences. Just make sure you communicate clearly about the differences in rewards and responsibilities to your promoters.

\
&#x20;**Is referral marketing more cost-effective than affiliate marketing?**

Generally, referral marketing requires a lower upfront investment since it leverages existing customers. However, the overall cost-effectiveness of each strategy depends on your specific business goals and the implementation of your marketing campaigns.
